The Mayor of Bethlehem, Mr. Maher Canwati, along with members of the municipal council, visited the Orthodox National Charitable Society. They were received by the society’s president, Mr. Michel Freij, and members of the board.
During the meeting, Canwati expressed his appreciation for the society’s role in serving the community. He stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships between the municipality and civil society institutions to confront the city’s daily challenges.
Mr. Michel Freij reaffirmed the society’s full support for all efforts aimed at improving the city’s conditions. He emphasized the need for continued cooperation and coordination with the municipality to ensure a clean and safe environment worthy of its residents and visitors.
The visit also included discussions on key issues, most notably public cleanliness, regulation of unlicensed street vendors around the markets, addressing traffic congestion, and improving infrastructure in the old neighborhoods to ensure a safe urban environment and enhance quality of life for citizens.
